Sometimes the heart just overflows
With gratitude
Sometimes you recognize how blessed you have been
And you sit in stunned awe

Sometimes you see with eyes that look back--
imagining what could have been
And you cry
You cry happy tears of thanksgiving

Sometimes the heart is made aware
of how--left to its own devices--
There would be only a tragic story of self-destruction
And you lift your eyes upward and whisper through the tears

Thank You, God.

Sometimes you realize how much you owe God and
People who gave themselves over to Him--
To be guided by His wisdom
You see how they have helped you
And you are overwhelmed with appreciation

No man is an island
We all affect those around us
How I long to be only what would please my Creator
I want to nudge each person toward Him

  1. I love your blog! Your fall pictures are so nice! Thank you for being you.

  2. Beautiful, Laura! I, too, am so thankful for what has been, and not what could have been! What a loving Heavenly Father!!

  3. Beautifully reflects your heart! Always good to be aware that anything good that we are is not of ourselves but His grace.

  4. beautiful! thanks for sharing! i love you much! :D

  5. Kimber's right: this is a good reflection of your heart. Thanks for sharing it with others. Surely we all have those sentiments, sometimes......

My kids still don't fully grasp why Thanksgiving is Mommy's favorite holiday...I mean, when there's Christmas and all!...but I hope someday they will get it. It's because as you say, sometimes you just have let it wash over you how grateful you are, and should be......

  6. Yes...sometimes you do.
